"Beowulf: A New Verse Translation" brings to life one of the most significant and enduring works of Old English literature. This heroic epic follows the legendary Geatish warrior, Beowulf, as he travels to the land of the Danes to battle the monstrous Grendel, who has been terrorizing the hall of King Hrothgar. The narrative traces Beowulf's journey from his youthful triumphs over Grendel and Grendel's mother to his final, fateful encounter with a hoard-guarding dragon in his old age.
